FAQ

What is the BREATHE METHOD, and what are the Modalities used?

We tailor The Breathe Method to each person’s needs. Together, we come up with a plan of action.

I use Counseling or Coaching, Hypnotherapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique/Tapping), Yoga Therapy (to unlock stuck energy) in the body, sometimes meditation (calm the mind of all thought), and BREATHWORK. Often, we may use a combination of modalities. These combined make up The Breathe Method.

Do you offer in-person as well as video and phone sessions?
Yes! Most sessions are virtual via ZOOM. On a case-by-case basis, I offer in-person sessions in my San Francisco office. The virtual sessions from your location are incredibly powerful.
How long is a session?
The session’s length depends on what we do – most sessions are typically one hour. During the first hypnotherapy session, I like to allow 90 minutes for the intake and hypnosis with recording.
What does a complimentary phone consultation mean?
This consultation is a 15-minute phone appointment that is all yours to ask questions.
What forms of payment work?
All forms of payment are welcome except American Express, and I also can bill you via PayPal.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance unless it is an HSA (Health Savings Account) through your employer. I can do a superbill to submit to insurance.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
The Breathe Method is very effective, so I rarely offer a sliding scale. However, I leave a few openings for sliding scales based on need.

What is it like working with you?

I tailor each session specifically to you and your needs!

I’ll always take the time to check in with you. Together, we’ll identify areas of focus that feel important to you. Right from the start, we’ll look for the things that feel the most challenging for you.

We’ll develop strategies and grow your coping skills so that you can live your fullest and best possible life. We do this in a safe, trusting environment and at a time dedicated to you.

What are the benefits of Breathe Therapy, Counseling, and Coaching?

A lot can get better and feel better by fully diving in and taking time for therapy work. You can see your relationship with yourself improve. Other relationships improve because you are clearer, and communication improves with others.

You will learn to set healthy boundaries to keep your communication clear and meaningful. You can develop skills that will help you feel better and help you stay feeling better. You can grow your confidence and discover that you can deal with stuff that has traditionally tripped you up. You can create a plan for yourself and set goals that will set you up for your greatest possible success.

It’s also important to know that therapy isn’t easy. Sometimes, it’s downright brutal! To get to the good stuff, we often must go through some not-so-comfortable feelings. Experiences that get in our way are often painful and create sadness, anxiety, frustration, or other feelings we typically try to avoid.

Sometimes, stuff feels worse before it starts to feel better. We don’t allow ourselves to suffer for long silently. Healing can feel big and overwhelming. There’s a reason we don’t like to do it alone.

A safe space is a great way to move through what feels awful. I hold a safe space where you feel supported as we walk through your feelings together.

What kind of Breathwork do you teach?

Each person is different and has different needs. Some techniques we use include 4,7,8 for better sleep and relaxation, deep belly breathing, box breathing, and yogic breathing. These methods calm people down due to anxiety and stress.

Sometimes, I have referrals from doctors because of a high heart rate or blood pressure. I use various techniques based on needs.

What are hypnotherapy and hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy is a tool for exploration, healing, and change. It is also incredibly relaxing and calms down the parasympathetic nervous system. Together, we relax the mind enough to shift ineffective habits, choices, and routines that are not serving you.

Hypnosis is a state created by specific language and focused attention. This process alters your brain wave activity as if your system was beginning to fall asleep. But you do not fall asleep because hypnosis is not sleeping. Although most people feel very relaxed, they can still remember most of their experiences.

In our session, you will receive a recording of the hypnosis to listen to daily so you can empower impactful changes to occur.

Being hypnotized is not a Vegas show. You will not cluck like a chicken or ever do anything that is not in your control. Clinical Hypnotherapy is ACHE accredited. I am a Certified Clinician through the American Council of Hypnotherapist Examiners.

What is the difference between hypnotherapy and meditation?

Hypnosis and meditation are both trance states resulting in similar brain wave patterns. Hypnosis uses a therapist’s guidance and often focuses on the goal. In contrast, meditation is usually done independently and sometimes with a guise, focusing more on clearing the mind of all thought.

Hypnosis is a trance-like state of heightened awareness. Everyone goes in and out of natural trances many times a day.

What is Deep Sleep Hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy and Counseling help discuss your issues around sleep disturbances, insomnia, or both.

Hypnosis will help you get a whole night’s sleep. I will provide a deep sleep Hypnosis MP4 recording for you at bedtime.

What is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Tapping, and how does it work?

Tapping gives you the power to heal yourself, putting control over your destiny into your own hands.

The practice involves tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points while talking through traumatic memories and a wide range of emotions.

The basic technique requires you to focus on the negative emotion at hand: a fear or anxiety, a bad memory, an unresolved problem, or anything that’s bothering you. While maintaining your mental focus on this issue, you use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times each on 9 of the body’s meridian points.

Tapping on these meridian points – while concentrating on accepting and resolving the negative emotion – will access your body’s energy, restoring it to a balanced state.

What is a meridian point?

Meridian points are specific points occurring throughout the body, like those used in acupressure. Energy circulates through your body following a particular network of channels, and you can tap into this energy at any point in the system.

We feel all negative emotions through a disruption of the body’s energy. The body, like everything in the universe, is composed of energy. If you restore balance to the body’s energy, you will mend the negative emotions and physical symptoms that stem from the energy disruption. Tapping restores the body’s energy balance, thus conquering those negative emotions.
